The purpose of this club is to spread the joy of gardening to the community, educate students on how to grow their own gardens, and to explain the science behind gardens. This club will be very hands-on and students will learn through experimentation and be able to apply lessons to real-life.
Throughout the semester, students will be planting seeds to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs in many of our garden beds around our campus.
Your student will learn about soil quality and soil amendments and pH level and how it impacts nutrient absorption. We will also teach students organic gardening methods of pest control and how to address common problems that plants may have.
Due to the clubs popularity last year and the teacher-to-student-ratio we are only able to accept students 3rd-grade through 5th-grade this year. Younger students may attend only if accompanied by a parent.
Club Meeting Times:
2:30 – 3:30 PM on Mondays
